NGBC Educational and Community Services, Incorporated (NGBC-ECS) is a domestic non-profit organization chartered in  the State of Georgia since April 1996.  A community based organization, NGBC-ECS strives to build collaborative action between school, community and family partnerships for learning.

     Research has shown that student achievement is greatly improved when schools are linked to strong relationships with families.  Since parents make up and serve as advisors to community based organizations, the linkage between school and families is greatly enhanced.  Therefore, NGBC-ECS linkage to school and families can bring parents and teachers together to strengthen the academic performance of students.

     The target population resides in a mostly rural area of Northeast Georgia.  Counties include but are not limited to Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Green, Hancock, Jackson, Madison, Oglethorpe, Talliferro, and Wilkes.  NGBC-ECS proposes to use a supple-mental educational approach to enhance the course offering in the public school systems of the targeted counties.  The supplemental approach includes:

  • assessment of participants strengths and weaknesses;
  • profile of interest areas and career choices;
  • tutorial services
  • special educational projects to strengthen academic skills related to interest areas and career choices; and
  • conferences with teachers and parents to strengthen the communication between school, parents/guardians and community.
  • outreach to dropouts and adults to enhance opportunities for additional academic advancement and career/jobs preparation.
